Bursa Malaysia Ends Week On Firmer Note, CI Up 0.59%

Bursa Malaysia ended the week on a firmer note today (May 3), bucking the mostly lower regional market performance, on persistent buying in utilities stocks.

At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 9.29 points or 0.59% to 1,589.59  from Thursday’s (May 2) close of 1,580.30.

The benchmark index opened 1.29 points higher at 1,581.59 and moved between 1,581.59 and 1,590.56 throughout the day.

In the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners 621 to 414, with 460 counters unchanged, 803 untraded, and 20 others suspended.

Turnover improved to 3.87 billion units worth RM3.15 bil from 3.81 billion units worth RM3.06 bil on Thursday.
