Honda Launches New City Hatchback With An Added Petrol Option For Its RS variant

Honda Malaysia has officially launched the New City Hatchback, introducing a petrol option for its RS variant, thereby completing the sporty hybrid and petrol offerings for this popular hatchback model. With this addition, the New City Hatchback now boasts a total of five variants.

Honda Malaysia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hironobu Yoshimura expressed excitement about the launch, saying, “In the first quarter of 2024, we achieved sales of more than 21,500 units, marking a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2023. oday, we are thrilled to introduce the New City Hatchback. With over 28,700 units of the City Hatchback on Malaysian roads since 2021, we are confident that this refreshed model will exceed customers’ expectations. We are particularly excited to offer customers an RS variant with a petrol powertrain.”

The New City Hatchback features enhancements and upgrades to its exterior, presenting a more energetic and sporty look with a newly designed Honeycomb Front Grille, LED Front Fog Lights Garnish, and Rear Bumper Lower Garnish. Additionally, new Berlina Black 16-inch Alloy Wheels and an edgy Side Sill Garnish further enhance the sporty appeal of both RS variants.

Both the Petrol RS and e:HEV RS variants of the New City Hatchback now measure 4,369mm in length, boasting a refreshed exterior design, while the S, E, and V variants are 4,350 mm in length.

In line with Honda’s commitment to fuel efficiency and performance, the New City Hatchback hybrid is powered by the 1.5L e:HEV powertrain, delivering 109PS and 253Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the petrol variant is equipped with a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine producing 121PS of maximum output and 145Nm of torque. Paddle Shift comes standard in all Petrol variants, offering a fun and engaging drive.

The interior of the New City Hatchback has also received a stylish upgrade, with RS variants featuring a striking red-painted dashboard panel and sporty Combi Leather seats with eye-catching red stitching. Both Petrol RS and e:HEV RS variants come with 8” Display Audio with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto Wireless Connectivity, along with a 7” TFT Meter Cluster.

Safety features include Honda SENSING as standard across all variants, now including the Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN). Other safety features include six airbags, Walk Away Auto Lock, Multi-Angle Reverse Camera with Hi-Resolution, and Honda LaneWatch for blind spots in V and RS variants. Additionally, RS variants are equipped with smartphone application integration named Honda CONNECT for Safety, Security, and Convenience.
