Selangor Can Achieve 80% 5G Coverage By Year End: MB

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he is confident the state can achieve 80 per cent 5G network coverage this year.

Amirudin said his government is looking into 5G reach in industrial, education and business areas.

“I want to look at quality rather than figures, so I will call (state executive councillor for Islam and innovation) Dr Fahmi Ngah to look at the effectiveness of the 5G network reach.

“Our priority is to streamline 5G connectivity by focusing on industrial areas, followed by education areas and then business areas.

“We’re confident we can reach 80 per cent (5G coverage) this year,” he said, adding that he is expecting an official report on the matter from Telekom Malaysia.

Amirudin said this when met at Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s Teachers’ Day celebration at Masjid Negeri here today.

Previously, the state government and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commissions Selangor focused on developing 5G network coverage in 1,850 areas this year.

This effort was to realise the state’s objective to achieve 100 per cent 5G coverage by next year.

Singapore’s Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat has expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the incident onboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London Heathrow to Singapore,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the authorities and SIA staff are providing support to the affected passengers and their families.
