Sunway College Excels Again, Receives Another Award

The May 2024 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA) organised by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) have once again showcased the excellence and dedication of students on the global stage, with Sunway College emerging as Malaysia’s top-performing Cambridge GCE A-Level College.

A total of 26 students from Sunway College achieved an outstanding feat, securing 28 A and AS Level distinctions. Kelvin Ng Kah Kit, receiving First place in Malaysia, clinched the prestigious ‘best across three’ award in the A Level category, adding to his three accolades from the preceding November 2023 OCLA ceremony for AS Level.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Ng emphasised the role of his dedicated lecturers in his development and pledged to continue pushing himself in future endeavors.

Among the notable achievements, Naisha Keng Siok Ying, Beanice Ng, Ong Shang Kheat, and Jonathan Heng Zeng Juin were recognised as Top in Malaysia for AS Level in Accounting, Economics, and History, respectively. Meanwhile, Yeow Mun Hung, Chia Yin Qi, and Liew Er Jun secured the Top in Malaysia titles for A Level in Accounting, Biology, and Chemistry.

Ong Zhi Hsuen, who achieved Top in the World for Mathematics AS Level in the November 2023 ceremony, replicated her success in the A Level category. In her speech at the ceremony, she encouraged fellow students to embrace both triumphs and challenges in their learning journey.

Further accolades were bestowed upon Tan Jay and Ryan William Nolloth for Top in the World titles in A Level Further Mathematics and Psychology, respectively. Zyen Tan also received the High Achievement award for Thinking Skills in the AS Level.

Additionally, a group of students attained the Top in the World titles for AS Level Mathematics, including Amanda Then Sue-Qi, Arkar Chan Nyein, Bak Xuan Yi, Chee Zhi Jun, Cheong Cheng Xin, Daniel Kan Wei Rong, Foo Kai Xuan, Gan En Chia, Lim Yi Hang, Natalie Chew Teo May, Tan Hong Zhe, and Teoh Zi Hong. Moreover, Jamie Lai Chee Mun, Naisha Keng Siok Ying, Beanice Ng, and Emylia Binti Feisol were recognized for their achievements in Further Mathematics, Law, Literature in English, and Psychology, respectively.

Ruth Cheah, Sunway College Cambridge GCE A-Level Director of Programme, expressed her pride in the remarkable success of the students, affirming Sunway College’s position as the leading Cambridge provider in Malaysia.
