The first installation of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 has achieved remarkable success, recording RM12.2 billion, nearly double the initial target of RM7 billion set for the entire SIBS 2024 series, and attracted over 8,500 visitors.
According to Invest Selangor Bhd, the recent event held in July saw the signing of 23 letters of agreement (LOA), letters of intent (LOI), memoranda of agreement (MOA), and memoranda of understanding (MOU).The state investment arm said the exchange highlights the collaborative spirit and shared interests among the participating entities.
“The total potential transaction value from negotiations done at the booths and document exchanges reached RM12.2 billion this year, surpassing the RM7 billion target set for overall SIBS 2024,” it said in a statement today.
The first series, held from July 25 to July 27, included the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) 2024 and Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC) 2024, which attracted 8,550 visitors from 22 countries.
Participating countries include neighbouring Asean countries, as well as Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom, to name a few.Invest Selangor added that the ‘Malaysian Development Investment Authority Invest Series Selangor: Unfolding Its Business Potential’ event played a significant role in SPARK 2024, focusing on investment opportunities and fostering economic growth in Selangor.
New for this year, the organisor decided to hold two SIBS event with the second edition set to take place in Octoberr at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 16 to 19. The even will feature the Selangor International Expo (SIE F&B) 2024, the Selangor Life Sciences Convention (SLC) 2024, and the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2024.
