Bursa Malaysia showed signs of recovery today as global markets regained stability and investors seized opportunities to pick up stocks after earlier market sell-offs.
At lunchtime, the benchmark index had risen by 19.32 points, or 1.23%, to reach 1,594.17, coming within 17 points of last Friday’s close.
Most sectors in the broader market were in the green, with plantations being the only exception. Major plantation stocks like Kuala Lumpur Kepong saw a decline, dropping 58 sen to RM20.84.
Conversely, the utilities sector saw significant gains, with YTL Power increasing by 27 sen to RM4.29 and Tenaga Nasional climbing 50 sen to RM14.14.
