Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, the premier tertiary-care facility under TMC Life Sciences Berhad, has announced the renaming of Kota Damansara MRT station to ‘MRT Kota Damansara Thomson Hospital’. This strategic move highlights the hospital’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare and underscores its dedication to sustainable practices.
The newly branded MRT station is directly connected to the hospital via a fully shaded walkway, offering a convenient and eco-friendly solution for patients and visitors. The move encourages the use of public transport, aligning with Thomson Hospital’s broader sustainability goals.
Deputy Minister of Health, Malaysia, Dato’ Lukanisman Awang Sauni, endorsed the initiative, saying, “Today’s occasion is one of great importance, as it signifies the culmination of the Government’s efforts in bridging the gap between healthcare and transportation. Having an MRT station situated right next to a healthcare facility is a step in the right direction towards making healthcare more accessible.”
Thomson Hospital, known for its extensive range of over 50 specialties and subspecialties, aims to be a comprehensive solution for tertiary care. Dato’ Sri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff, Chairman of TMC Life Sciences Berhad, commented, “A key element of our unwavering commitment to excellence is ensuring that healthcare remains accessible to everyone. This MRT station branding represents a significant enhancement in our ability to serve both local and international patients, particularly from Indonesia, China, Bangladesh, and beyond.”
In line with its vision for sustainable healthcare, TMC Life Sciences is working towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The new MRT station name is part of a broader effort to promote public transport and reduce the hospital’s carbon footprint.
Dr Heng Jun Li Melvin, Acting Group CEO of TMC Life Sciences Berhad, expressed enthusiasm for the new development, stating, “We are delighted to commemorate Thomson’s family celebration of 30 years in delivering accessible, accountable and sustainable healthcare with the branding of the MRT station. This initiative exemplifies our ongoing efforts to enhance patient experience as we continue to deliver world-class standards in healthcare to our communities.”
The collaboration between Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara and Malaysia’s Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) marks a significant milestone in improving healthcare accessibility and advancing sustainability efforts in Malaysia.
