The upcoming Energy Ministers’ Meeting (EMM) under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) will focus on sustainable growth in the energy sector, with an emphasis on energy transition and reducing the region’s carbon footprint.
The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) announced today that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, will head Malaysia’s delegation at the EMM, scheduled for August 15-16.
Hosted by Peru, the APEC 2024 Chair, the EMM is the highest-level meeting of APEC economic leaders responsible for energy development.
Fadillah will present Malaysia’s efforts in energy transition, ensuring equitable energy development, and pursuing the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Key initiatives include the Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), Hydrogen Economy Roadmap (HETR), and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030.
Petra stated that Malaysia’s participation will highlight the country’s green investment potential to investors from the Asia-Pacific region, enhancing its reputation as a destination for clean and high-value investment.
In addition to the main conference, Fadillah will conduct bilateral and multilateral meetings with APEC counterparts and international industry leaders to expand cooperation in various energy sectors.
