Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today denied that the government is planning a Cabinet reshuffle in the near future.
Anwar stated that he is not aware of or has heard anything about such a plan.
“Well, I was just informed. I haven’t heard who is planning to reshuffle the Cabinet? This is serious. I have not heard about it yet,” he said.
He said this when speaking to reporters after officiating the Malaysia Commercialisation Year Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) today.
Anwar was responding to a claim by a news portal today that reported the possibility of another Cabinet reshuffle, less than a year after the last government leadership reshuffle.
When asked whether a menteri besar would be appointed to the Cabinet as reported by the portal, he said that this might happen after the general election (GE).
The last time the Cabinet was reshuffled was in December last year when the number of ministers was increased from 29 to 31.
