Bursa Malaysia’s benchmark index lingered in the red for much of the trading day but managed to eke out slight gains by the close, mirroring trends seen in regional markets, according to analysts.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched up by 0.17 per cent or 2.86 points, reaching an intraday high of 1,609.52, a modest improvement from Monday’s close of 1,606.66.
The index opened at 1,605.84, slightly lower than the previous day’s close, and hit a low of 1,598.30 during the early morning session.
In broader market activity, decliners outnumbered gainers by 705 to 334. Additionally, 460 counters remained unchanged, 947 were untraded, and nine were suspended.
Market turnover dipped to 3.41 billion units worth RM2.49 billion, down from Monday’s 4.01 billion units valued at RM2.93 billion.
