All ministries, agencies, and state governments involved in entrepreneurship and the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are now required to report on the progress and achievements of their initiatives.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that this directive is intended to ensure greater transparency and accountability in the execution of these programs. It will provide a comprehensive overview of their impact on the entrepreneurial landscape and the growth of MSMEs.
This initiative also aims to prevent the misuse of government resources. Zahid highlighted that currently, there are 40 entrepreneurship and MSME development programs, with a budget of RM32.8 billion, that have not reported their progress and results.
Additionally, there are 286 similar programs and initiatives, with a budget of RM15.06 billion, which have been reported in the Pelan Tindakan Bersepadu (PKS) for the first half of this year.
“This represents a 10.8% increase compared to 2023, when 258 initiatives were implemented for MSMEs,” Zahid noted.
