Fahmi Fadzil Advocates For AI-Generated Content Labelling On Social Platforms

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has called for all social media platforms to label AI-generated content clearly to prevent misinformation and other issues.

Fahmi emphasised that social media platforms should be held accountable for incidents occurring on their sites. He proposed that any content produced using Generative AI technology should be marked with a label such as “Generated by Artificial Intelligence” to ensure transparency for users.

“This measure is essential to inform users that the content they are engaging with is AI-generated,” Fahmi stated. “We plan to implement a licensing system for social media platforms to enforce responsibility and address such incidents more effectively.”

His comments follow a recent case involving popular social media influencer Khairul Aming, who fell victim to a fake video created using Deep Fake technology.
