Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who arrived in India on Monday for a three-day official visit, was welcomed with an official ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit marks a significant step in enhancing the 67-year relationship between Malaysia and India, setting the stage for expanded multi-sectoral cooperation.
During his visit, Prime Minister Ibrahim will engage in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi. This discussion will focus on reviewing current collaborations, exploring new initiatives to advance the Malaysia-India Enhanced Strategic Partnership—established in 2015—and addressing regional and global issues of shared interest. As part of the official proceedings, Prime Minister Modi will also host a luncheon in honour of Prime Minister Ibrahim.
Prime Minister Ibrahim is also scheduled to meet with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and deliver a lecture titled “Towards a Rising Global South: Leveraging Malaysia-India Ties” at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA).
In a bid to boost economic collaboration, Prime Minister Ibrahim will participate in a roundtable discussion with Indian industry leaders to explore new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
In a noteworthy development, Malaysia and India solidified their bilateral relations today with the exchange of eight Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), further cementing their commitment to strengthening ties and enhancing mutual cooperation.
