Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Power Generation Managing Director Muhamad Nazi Pazil has announced that compensation payments to affected communities began on 9 August and 14 August. The compensation was necessary due to the clearing of existing crops, such as rubber plantations and gardens owned by the Orang Asli, to facilitate the construction of the dam.
“We provided compensation to the Orang Asli in Pos Tohoi and Pos Pulat, where their rubber trees and gardens were cleared. As part of the compensation, we are supplying rubber seedlings for planting in Donomodian,” he explained.
“In addition to the compensation for crops, TNB has also invested in other forms of support for the communities. This includes building houses, schools, suraus (prayer rooms), toilets, and other essential infrastructure facilities”, he added.
