Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) has entered into a strategic collaboration with NSDC International, a subsidiary of India’s National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), to enhance digital skilling initiatives for Malaysian youth. The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to equip young Malaysians with future-ready skills while strengthening the relationship between Malaysia and India.

The MoU exchange took place at NSDC’s headquarters, with TalentCorp’s Group CEO, Thomas Mathew, and NSDC International’s MD and CEO, Ved Mani Tiwari, signing the agreement. The ceremony was witnessed by Malaysia’s Minister of Human Resources (MoHR), Steven Sim Chee Keong, and India’s Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary.

This new MoU builds on an earlier agreement signed in March 2023, which led to the creation of TalentCorp’s MyMAHIR Future Skills Talent Councils (FSTC). These industry-driven councils have already established six sectors, including E&E, ICT, Aerospace, Biopharma & Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing Services, and Global Services & Data Centres. Four more councils are expected to launch by September 2024.

Steven Sim highlighted the positive impact of these FSTCs, noting that participants in FSTC-guided programs typically earn 10-15% higher salaries due to the enhanced productivity and skill sets they acquire. He expressed optimism about the renewed partnership, stating, “With the new MoU, we will continue to intensify our collaboration and achieve even greater success for both the Ministry and for our two nations.”

The renewed partnership will focus on two key areas: digitalising Malaysia’s talent ecosystem and introducing verifiable digital credentials for Indian nationals working in Malaysia.

A new digital platform will be launched by KESUMA, incorporating curriculum development, training design, content creation, and certification best practices to boost youth employment in Malaysia and beyond.

India’s Minister of State, Jayant Chaudhary, praised the partnership, emphasising the importance of industry-focused skill development and the role of the Skill India Digital Hub in addressing critical skill gaps. He expressed confidence that TalentCorp would benefit significantly from the tech advisory solutions provided by NSDC International.
