Bursa Malaysia Rises As Fed’s Remarks Fuel Optimism

Bursa Malaysia closed on a positive note today, following the upward trend seen across most regional markets, thanks to remarks from the US Federal Reserve (Fed) on Friday suggesting a shift towards a more accommodative monetary policy.

By 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) had increased by 3.22 points, or 0.20%, to reach 1,638.96, up from Friday’s closing figure of 1,635.74.

The local market’s performance was bolstered by significant gains in several index-linked stocks, notably Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank), Tenaga Nasional Bhd, and Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd. These stocks collectively contributed 4.998 points to the composite index’s rise. Maybank saw an increase of 10 sen to RM10.54, Tenaga rose by 20 sen to RM13.92, and Press Metal added seven sen to RM5.21.

The index began the day on a strong note, opening 4.08 points higher at 1,639.82 and fluctuated between 1,634.72 and 1,643.95 throughout the trading session.
