The Provincial Government of Jakarta recorded as many as 59 confirmed cases of mpox from October 13, 2023, to August 19, 2024.
Head of the Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati noted in a statement from her office here on Monday that especially for 2024, some 11 cases of mpox were spread across eight sub-districts in Jakarta.
In detail, six cases were detected in January, three cases were found in February, one case was identified in May, and one case was detected in June.
Mpox cases in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta, continue to receive attention. To this end, early warning measures against mpox are continued to prevent the disease from spreading further.
Ruspitawati affirmed that the Jakarta government continues to implement a prevention and control system against mpox, including health promotion related to the prevention and transmission of mpox, and reporting case findings through hospitals and health centers.
Cases have also been reported in Thailand and Philippines., in Malaysia the Health Ministry says positive cases have yet to be ascertained.
