New Direct Flights To Shenzhen And Shantou Launched From Penang And Kota Kinabalu

Starting October 28, 2024, AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) will operate four weekly flights from Penang to Shenzhen. The Kota Kinabalu to Shantou route will commence on November 16, 2024, offering three flights weekly.

These new routes mark a significant expansion for AirAsia, further strengthening its position as the leading low-cost carrier in the region.

To celebrate the launch of these new routes, AirAsia is offering promotional fares. Passengers can book one-way flights from Penang to Shenzhen starting at RM329 all-in and from Kota Kinabalu to Shantou starting at RM299 all-in.

These fares are available for booking through the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com until September 8, 2024. The travel period for these promotional fares extends from October 28, 2024, to March 29, 2025, for the Penang-Shenzhen route, and from November 16, 2024, to March 29, 2025, for the Kota Kinabalu-Shantou route.

Malaysian travelers can take advantage of visa-free entry to China for tourist visits of up to 15 days, a policy in effect until the end of 2025. Shenzhen and Shantou, both located in Guangdong province, offer visitors a mix of modern and natural attractions.

In Shenzhen, tourists can enjoy panoramic views of the city from the Free Sky observatory deck on the 116th floor of the Ping An International Finance Centre. In Shantou, Nan’ao Island provides a peaceful retreat for those looking to escape the bustle of city life.
