In a recent address, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged the Ministry of Education to prioritise the mastery of Science, Mathematics, and English in the Malaysian education system.

He emphasised that strengthening these subjects is essential for supporting the nation’s development.

A solid foundation in Science and Mathematics is vital for students who will pursue careers in technology, engineering, and various other fields that drive economic growth.

Furthermore, proficiency in English is increasingly important in today’s interconnected world, as it serves as a medium for international communication and collaboration.

In recent years, Malaysia has recognised the need to enhance its educational standards to meet global benchmarks. With an ever-evolving job market, the emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is becoming increasingly crucial.

Education experts have echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, arguing that improvements in these subjects will not only prepare students for future careers but also foster a more knowledgeable and skilled populace that can tackle pressing national challenges.

As Malaysia moves towards becoming a high-income nation, the Prime Minister’s call for a renewed focus on Science, Mathematics, and English reflects a strategic approach to education that aligns with the country’s long-term development goals.

The KPM is expected to implement initiatives that promote these subjects in schools across the nation, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.
