New Tissot’s T-Touch Connect Sport, Emphasising Innovation And Tradition

Tissot has unveiled the T-Touch Connect Sport, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and research in watchmaking. With a history dating back to 1853, Tissot has consistently demonstrated its ability to create practical solutions, embodying the brand’s slogan: “Innovators by Tradition.”

Throughout its 167 years, Tissot has navigated numerous challenges in the watch industry, combining resilience with a strategic focus on innovation. The brand emphasises high-quality standards and affordability, ensuring that its products remain accessible to a wide audience.

Initially founded as an établissage works, Tissot evolved into a self-sufficient factory by 1917, producing all components in-house. This shift allowed for greater flexibility and efficiency in manufacturing.

Tissot’s commitment to practicality is evident in its history of addressing everyday challenges faced by customers, such as the impact of magnetism on watches, leading to the development of the Tissot Antimagnetic collection in the 1920s.

The brand has continually explored new materials and technologies. In the 1970s, Tissot became a pioneer in using synthetic materials in watchmaking, launching the Idea 2001 collection. Although the use of plastic faced skepticism from jewelers, Tissot’s forward-thinking approach laid the groundwork for future innovations.

Recognising the potential of quartz technology in the 1960s, Tissot introduced a range of collections that combined analogue and digital displays, adapting to the evolving landscape of watchmaking. Tissot’s ability to innovate allowed it to thrive amid the quartz revolution, ensuring its place in the industry.

Tissot’s imaginative designs have consistently reflected contemporary trends. Collaborating with prominent designers, the brand has successfully integrated aesthetic research into its growth strategy.

The Tissot Navigator, invented in 1951, showcased the brand’s ability to combine functionality and affordability by displaying twenty-four time zones simultaneously.

The introduction of the Tissot T-Touch in 1999 marked a significant breakthrough in wristwatch technology, incorporating touch control for enhanced functionality. Following this success, Tissot partnered with Microsoft in 2005 to develop connected watches, such as the Tissot High-T, which offered real-time information but faced challenges due to limited network infrastructure.

In 2020, Tissot continued its legacy of innovation with the launch of the T-Touch Connect Solar, reaffirming its dedication to combining cutting-edge technology with the timeless values that have defined the brand for over a century.
