Higher Education Minister Directs Public Universities To Delay Fees For Underprivileged Students

In a recent update, the Ministry of Higher Education has directed public universities to postpone fee collection for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir announced this measure to ease financial pressures on students who may face difficulties registering for university due to financial constraints.

In a video shared with Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in Facebook, the Minister discussed the issue of financial barriers faced by students entering higher education. Both Mr. Zambry and Dr. Asyraf have been actively addressing this concern, aiming to ensure that all students who receive offers to study can enrol without financial hindrances.

The Minister reassured students that they should not worry about fees, as the Ministry provides various forms of assistance. “If there are any issues or problems, please contact the universities or the Ministry of Higher Education directly. We are committed to resolving any difficulties,” he said.

Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has been supportive of these measures, consistently focusing on ensuring that students are not impeded by financial barriers. The Ministry remains dedicated to facilitating student enrolment and alleviating financial burdens to ensure every student has the opportunity to pursue higher education.
