The Ministry of Industry, Thailand, in collaboration with the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Office of International Trade Promotion, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, has officially launched the Thailand Week 2024 Press Conference & Business Networking (NEXT LEVEL Thai) in Malaysia. Held at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, the event aims to strengthen trade ties and promote Thailand’s soft power globally, particularly through the “Halal Food of the Future” initiative.
The event, inaugurated by Thailand’s Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, showcased 20 selected Thai halal food companies to over 30 Malaysian businesses, promoting networking and potential partnerships. The initiative forms part of Thailand’s broader efforts to expand international markets in the 2024 fiscal year.
Thailand Week 2024 in KLCC: Driving Trade Growth
Following the success of the press conference, Thailand Week 2024 will continue from 16th to 19th October 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Co-located with the 8th Selangor International Business Summit 2024, the event will serve as a key platform for Malaysian businesses, importers, and consumers to engage with Thai companies across various sectors.
Under the theme “Unlock Trade Opportunities, Unleash Business Potential”, Thailand Week 2024 will feature product exhibitions, business matching sessions, cultural performances, and hands-on workshops. Key industries such as food and beverages, wellness, fashion, and innovation will be represented, showcasing top brands like Red Bull, Maepranom Chilli Paste, and Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder.
Economic and Cultural Impact
Ambassador Lada Phumas expressed confidence in the event’s potential, following the successful Mini Thailand Week in 2023 in Kota Kinabalu. She anticipates an even larger turnout at KLCC, contributing to the target of USD30 billion in bilateral trade by 2027.
Worawan Wanwil, Director of the DITP, highlighted Thailand Week 2024 as a “game changer” for businesses aiming to tap into the ASEAN market. With over 100 brands in attendance, the event is projected to generate USD4 million in export trade, with potential growth reaching USD14 million within a year.
Thailand Week 2024 promises to be a landmark event, fostering new partnerships and driving economic growth in both Thailand and Malaysia.
