DBKL Says Development At Bukit Damansara Still Being Reviewed

Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) clarified that no decision has been made on the proposed 60-storey building project in Bukit Damansara, pending technical studies and engagement sessions with residents and stakeholders.

In a statement on Sunday, DBKL said it is still reviewing the development application and has not reached any final decision.

“DBKL would like to emphasise that every decision related to urban development is always guided by existing policies and gazetted development plans. DBKL is committed to ensuring that all developments in Kuala Lumpur are carried out in an orderly, sustainable manner and do not affect the wellbeing of local residents,” it said.

The clarification came after former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin urged authorities to consider the potential impact on nearby residents before approving any major development projects in the area.

According to DBKL, the proposal involves a commercial development layout plan over three lots of land covering 7.98 acres. The Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040 (PTKL2040), gazetted on May 28, outlines the necessary compliance requirements, including the invitation for public feedback under Rule 3.

“The proposed development is still subject to technical requirements such as a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA), geotechnical studies, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and other related technical aspects,” DBKL added.

The council also noted that approval from various technical agencies including Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the Land and Mines Office (PTG), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and other relevant agencies will be required before any decision is made.
