MOHE Explores Measures To Ease Student Cost Of Living Pressures Amid Energy Crisis

The Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) is examining ways to help students and campus communities cope with rising living costs amid the global energy crisis.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the crisis is impacting not just the global economy but also the financial management of staff, academics and students in higher education institutions.

“Several ideas and proposals were presented during my meeting with representatives from the National Student Consultative Council where we discussed on strategies for mitigating potential increases in food prices, daily necessities and other living costs.

“I have instructed the relevant officers to examine the matter seriously and give it due attention,” he said, adding that plans and initial measures will be announced soon.

He emphasised that students’ voices are being heard and will be translated into action, signalling that the ministry is taking proactive steps to safeguard campus communities during these challenging times.
