MyJPJ Users Can Get Up To 10% Insurance Rebate, Says Loke

Motorists with good driving records may soon enjoy an additional rebate of up to 10% on their vehicle insurance premiums under a new government initiative designed to reward safe and responsible driving behaviour.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the Cermat MADANI initiative will offer the rebate to low-risk drivers identified through assessments conducted via the MyJPJ application.

The discount will be granted on top of the existing No Claim Discount (NCD) of up to 55%, allowing eligible motorists to receive total savings of as much as 65% on their motor insurance premiums.

Loke said artificial intelligence (AI)-based risk assessments could also help reduce the base premium charged to motorists who achieve high safety scores.

“The initiative is based on the principle that drivers who comply with the law, maintain good driving records and consistently prioritise safety deserve to be recognised and rewarded,” he said.

Loke said the programme forms part of the government’s broader efforts to promote a culture of safer, more responsible and prudent driving through the use of data-driven risk assessments.

He added that recognising safe driving habits could encourage more motorists to obey speed limits, comply with traffic regulations, avoid repeat offences and be more accountable on the road.

“Road safety is not merely about statistics or numbers. It concerns human lives, the safety of families and the well-being of communities,” he said.

The Transport Ministry said it remains committed to improving road safety while ensuring a fairer insurance premium system that rewards responsible motorists.
