SMTrack Berhad has announced the resignation of its President, Dato’ Sri Shaharuddin bin Khalid, citing other work commitments.
The company said Shaharuddin, 65, stepped down from his position as Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from June 9, 2026.
Shaharuddin joined the board of SMTrack on Oct 8, 2020, before being redesignated as chairman 11 days later on Oct 19, 2020. His resignation ends a tenure of nearly six years at the company.
A veteran public sector administrator, Shaharuddin brings more than four decades of experience in road transport regulation, governance, compliance and anti-corruption enforcement.
He is best known for his role as Director-General of the Road Transport Department Malaysia, where he oversaw the department’s operations, financial management, administration and integrity initiatives.
Before leading JPJ, Shaharuddin served with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, beginning his career as an investigation officer in 1984 and rising to the position of director in 2004.
He later held senior compliance and advisory roles, including Acting Chief Compliance Officer at Felda Global Ventures Berhad between 2010 and 2016, and Chief Executive Adviser at the office of the MACC Chief Commissioner prior to his appointment at JPJ.
Throughout his public service career, Shaharuddin played a key role in strengthening traffic law enforcement, improving vehicle registration and licensing systems, enhancing organisational integrity and overseeing the collection of traffic-related penalties.
According to the filing, he holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven in Connecticut, United States, and a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from the University of Malaya.
SMTrack said Shaharuddin has no family relationship with any director or major shareholder of the company and has no conflict of interest in any business arrangements involving the group.
