A robotic shake

Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad shakes hands with ABB’s YuMi®, the world’s first truly collaborative robot, during the Business + Cities 4.0 Conference and Exhibition.

The handshake with Malaysian Prime Minister  demonstrates a new era of collaboration, where people and robots work safely and productively together in the same space on shared tasks. This collaboration unlocks entirely new automation applications that can benefit many Malaysian businesses, such as electronics manufacturers.

YuMi is intuitive and simple to program, even for people without prior robotics experience. This removes the main entry barrier for small and medium Malaysian businesses to benefit from the scalability and productivity of robotic automation.  YuMi also connects to the growing Industrial Internet of Things, to take advantage of data analytics and advanced services that improve its performance and reliability. As Malaysia gears towards digitalization, its Business + Cities 4.0 Conference and Exhibition gives participants a platform to discuss strategies to better adapt to Industry 4.0 capabilities.
