Shortly after the announcement in Mainland China, Xiaomi’s latest flagship the Mi 9 was also announced to the other global markets.

Early May 2016, Xiaomi’s research and development team explored on the 5G standards. They successfully tested n78 signal connection in September 2018, and one month later completed mmWave (millimeter wave) signal test . During that period, only a handful of smartphone manufacturers in the world successfully conducted such testings.

At the launch, Xiaomi proved the readiness of Mi MIX 3 5G with a live demo, using the 5G network provided by Orange Spain.
