HSBC Malaysia Plays Host In Fostering Closer Ties Between Two Neighbouring Countries

Recently, HSBC Malaysia hosted the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to foster closer economic ties between Malaysia and Singapore.  The event in collaboration with HSBC Singapore is to support Malaysian corporates with their ambitions to expand businesses outside of Malaysia, with a focus on ASEAN countries, starting with Singapore.

The EDB is Singapore’s government agency responsible for strategies that enhance Singapore’s position as a global centre for business, innovation, and talent. This was EDB’s inaugural visit to HSBC Malaysia.

The highlight of the event was a corporate experience sharing session moderated by Karel Doshi, Head of Corporate, HSBC Malaysia and Harish Venkatesan, Head of International Subsidiary Business, HSBC Singapore.

The session featured Sharan Valiram, Executive Director of Valiram Group who shared his key learning experience and transformational journey from a textile trader to the leader of an established fashion and retail conglomerate.

Today, HSBC in Malaysia has a network of 68 branches nationwide, of which 26 are HSBC   Malaysia Berhad branches. HSBC Malaysia offers a comprehensive range of banking and financial services including Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, and Islamic financial solutions and has launched innovative solutions such as HSBCnet for secure banking for businesses, Trade Transaction Tracker, and Facial Recognition.
