Pfizer vaccines arrived in Malaysia

Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin has announced the official arrival of the first batch of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines to Malaysian shores.

The vaccines were transported by MASkargo and were received by the team consisting of the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

“This batch of vaccines will be transported to 16 Vaccination Administration Centres (VACs) in the country.

The total number of frontliners registered as part of phase one in the vaccination is 271,802 within the health and non-health sectors. 57.3 percent of whom comprise medical personnel and 42.7 percent non-medical frontliners,” Khairy said.

Additionally, the Coordinating Minister for Covid-19 Immunisation announced that the programme would be brought forward by two days [February 24] which was initially scheduled to start on February 26 with the Prime Minister to be jabbed first.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will roll out in three phases starting at the end of this month, targeting 80 percent of the country’s population, who will be inoculated for free.
