Boost For Seberang Perai e-payment services

Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boost through Boost Biz, a merchants solutions provider. Boost Biz will be a strategic partner and the preferred e-payment services provider for the city of Seberang Perai.

Through this MoU, starting immediately, MBSP will work with Boost Biz to aid and support in the digitalisation of all businesses and entrepreneurs in Seberang Perai. This will be done via the Go-eCommerce Onboarding campaign until the end of the year.

The virtual signing ceremony event was witnessed by YB Jagdeep Singh Deo A/L Karpal Singh, Penang State Executive Councillor (EXCO) for Local Government, Housing and Town & Country Planning, and signed between Dato’ Sr. Hj Rozali B. Hj Mohamud, Mayor of Seberang Perai and Eric Chong, CEO of Boost Biz.

“In line with the Penang2030 vision, MBSP has been actively driving the cashless society through digitalisation of the economy. People today prefer contactless payments and online shopping. Hence, we are excited to expand our partnership with Boost to which will help Seberang Perai businesses and traders gain access to digital business tools plus solutions to be future-ready, as well as bridge the digital gap in the community,” said Hj Rozali.

Furthermore, the MoU will further explore more services including business license registration and renewal via the Boost Biz app. This will help increase access to MBSP services for businesses located outside the city and those who do not have access to a computer.

“Through this campaign, businesses and traders can easily shift offline at ZERO cost and earn 100% of their margins with waived onboarding and registration fees, alongside zero merchant discount rate. We are proud to do our part in contributing to the city and Penang state government’s goal to become a cashless society by 2030,” said Eric Chong, CEO of Boost Biz.

Last year, Boost collaborated with MBSP and was the first eWallet to bring three MBSP bill payment services into the digital payments ecosystem. The collaboration allowed for the people of Seberang Perai to conveniently and safely make payments to MBSP for tax assessment, stall rental and parking compounds via the Boost app.
