Cross-State SOP For Fully Vaccinated Before Reopening

It is expected that Malaysia will soon be able to open its state borders when 90% of adult population is fully vaccinate, the discussion among the National Security Council members is this can be decided in the next 3 weeks. 

Senior Defense Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein who heads the NSC is looking at ways to expedite the vaccination process and will be taking several measures including the assistance of armed forces. 

Part of the move is to have the Malaysian Armed Forces to increase cooperation with the Ministry of Health in ensuring that the public have fully received the 2 doses by having them mobiles at more Medan Medical Vaccination Teams (CMVT) in rural areas besides expanding the drive -by vaccination program implemented by the Ministry of Defense to the public.

However, the Minister also mentioned that before borders are reopened there will many things to be considered in terms of standard operating procedures (SOP) as well as the agency's responsibilities in carrying out monitoring.

"Our cross-state SOP will be announced before the announcement of cross-state permission is made and it will be detailed in the Pandemic Special Committee Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri next week," he said.

Hishammuddin also said public discipline would be the most important element when cross -state was allowed as it was impossible for the government to monitor and implement SOPs to take care of every citizen who were given permission to cross the state borders.

“Therefore, public discipline is very important when enjoying the flexibility that will be announced. We hope they abide by the SOP that will be determined later, ”he said.
