The Role Of Technology In Ensuring Business Resiliency

By Sandeep Bhargava, Managing Director of Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ)

The pandemic has highlighted the role of technology in ensuring business resiliency, thus pushing businesses to accelerate digital transformation initiatives to optimise productivity, enhance revenue potential and prepare for future disruptions. With the upcoming discussion of the 2022 National Budget, the government should seek to implement new initiatives and continue existing programs that drive and support innovation and digitalisation efforts.

As various sectors of the economy reopens, many organisations will be reliant on government support to recover and achieve stability, as well as assistance to pursue their modernisation goals. Businesses are realising the need to capitalise on cloud services and manage transitions to the cloud in order to remain productive despite the economic slowdown. Furthermore, the government should also provide incentives to execute projects leveraging global third parties with the right expertise to help local business capture opportunities to win in the digital economy and mitigate the lingering and potential long-term effects of the pandemic.

With strong economic fundamentals combined with recovery strategies that utilise digital innovations such as cloud, big data and artificial intelligence, Malaysia is on the right track towards achieving national resilience and socio-economic reforms for 2022 and beyond.
