The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) is proud to be certified as a “Safe Business Event ‘SafeBE’ Venue following a stringent inspection and audit by Bureau Veritas, the world-renowned certification body.
The certification falls under its Public Buildings Inspection category, specifically Convention Centre Certification Guideline. The audit process takes into account Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in relation to COVID-19 preparedness and safety measures
“This certification is an endorsement of our strict operating standards, procedures, facilities, staffing and adherence to the Ministry of Health’s SOPs. The safety of all patrons is our priority.”
It said that all staff at MITEC are fully vaccinated and undergo a COVID-19 rapid test regularly as a precautionary measure. Each venue is thoroughly disinfected before and after every event.
“With 51,000 sqm space, social distancing is certainly not an issue, be it in our halls, ballrooms, meeting rooms, café, gardens and even restrooms,” said Mala Dorasamy, Acting Chief Executive Officer at MITEC.
“We have a comprehensive health and safety guide that governs all aspects of operations. Clients and partners who host an event at MITEC are briefed on our COVID-19 safety policies and standards. Business events is the key platform for Malaysian businesses to showcase, connect and trade with buyers, vendors and investors in an endeavour to springboard business recovery and we at MITEC will do our best to ensure the health and safety of patrons, staff and our venue,” Mala added.
The SafeBE certification is also recognised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC), as part of the collaboration between public and private sectors to accelerate the recovery of industries and economy under the Travel Safe Alliance (TSA) cooperation.
The TSA alliance consists of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Malaysia Assoc of Hotel (MAH), Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) and Malaysia Airlines Group to provide the industry with a safe travel experience such as “Clean and Safe Malaysia “for hotels, “Travel Safe” certificate for travel and tour arrangements and “SafeBE” for business events and convention venues.
