A total of 324 manufacturing projects in Selangor were approevd by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority in 2020, totaling to an investment value of RM18.43 billion.

According to Trade and Industry EXCO Dato ’Teng Chang Khim, he said of the total number of projects approved, 93 per cent had already been implemented.

Teng also added that as much as 7 percent is still in the planning, factory development and in the installation of machines and tools stage.

Ensuring these investment are well addressed and approved projects proceed without any interuptions, Teng said that the State Government through Invest Selangor holds regular discussions and follow -up actions with to help resolve any issues that arise.

Selangor is the largest state with manufacturing industries, the established infrastructure with connectivity and ports draws investors naturally. However, with competion rising from regional peers like Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand- Malaysia is always upping the ante to be constantly competitive by providing added incentives to these large investors.

To ensure investors have their investment protected, any company that receives manufacturing project approval from Mida must obtain a No-Objection Letter from the State Government. This was also clarified by Teng.
