Natural Rubber Production Drop 5.9% In 10 Months

According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM), Malaysia’s natural rubber production growth recorded a drop of 5.9% year-on-year to 397,486 tonnes in the first 10 months of this year from 422,324 tonnes the previous year.

“Natural rubber production in October 2021 was 43,127 tonnes, down 13.6% from 49,943 tonnes the previous month but up 4.7% from 41,180 tonnes in September,” it says.

Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin says, “Malaysia’s natural rubber production in October 2021 was contributed mainly by the smallholder sector (90.5%) while the rest of the estate sector.”

Total natural rubber stocks fell 3.6% to 281,723 tonnes in September 2021, down from 292,312 tonnes the previous month.

Meanwhile, in October 2021, Malaysia’s natural rubber exports totalled 62,167 tonnes, down 0.3% from September 2021 (62,332 tonnes).
