KFC Offers Plant Based Chicken Nuggets

Kentucky Fried Chicken US, is adding a new item to its menu that looks like chicken, tastes like chicken but it’s not chicken, the global fast-food retail chain is launching for a limited time plant-based chicken nuggets catering to the growing meatless diet consumers.

The new plant-based fried chicken nugget alternative called Beyond Fried Chicken will soon be added to the menu nationwide in the States for a limited time only, presumably to test the market. This is the first time a large national chain selling plant-based chicken products rather than hamburger and sausage alternatives.

According to KFC President Kevin Hochman, said “it’s time” he added that customers want to eat less animal protein but don’t want to give up comfort food. The chain which is owned by Yum! Brands said in a press release that Beyond Fried Chicken is packed with delicious flavour and the juicy satisfaction that you’d expect from the KFC’s iconic fried chicken.

Alternative meat products are gaining global attention with many restaurants now offering them in their menu, this is in tandem with the growth of meatless diet many consumers are practicing in recent times. Based on reports the plant-based meat market is set to grow to US$8.3 billion by 2025, in Malaysia the trend is beginning to catch up with selected high end restaurants already dishing them out
