Serious Symptoms Have Been Reduced With Vaccination, MOH

Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Health announces the following:

  1. Only 0.8% of the cases are Category 3-5.
  2. No signs of notable increase in the deaths and ICU.
  3. Although cases have increased, the healthcare system is still under control.

Comparison between the current situation and October 2, 2021 (the last time Malaysia’s cases breached 10k):

  1. 109 deaths announced then as compared to nine deaths yesterday
  2. 404 in ICU as compared to 66 in ICU yesterday

The changes show that with vaccination, serious symptoms have been reduced amongst COVID-positive patients.

Additionally, all senior citizens above 60 and all Sinovac recipients must have their booster by February 28, or their status will no longer be “fully vaccinated”.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will issue appointments to those Sinovac primary dose recipients who want to get Sinovac boosters (first come first serve basis). However, MOH still recommends Pfizer or AstraZeneca as a booster. The method will be announced soon.
