Malacca Securities Bags Most Honours In Bursa Malaysia 2021 Top Broker Event

Bursa Malaysia Berhad recognises deserving Malaysian brokers and market intermediaries for their contributions and achievements towards the growth and vibrancy of the capital market over the past year, based on the Retail Investor Campaign 2021.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd, CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd, and RHB Investment Bank Bhd are among the prominent winners of the Exchange’s Retail Investor Campaign 2021. Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd received the most honours, 27 in total, including four Top Broker Awards. Closely trailing behind was Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd with 15 awards. CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd and RHB Investment Bank Bhd, on
the other hand, each received six accolades including one Top Broker Award and five awards including two Top Broker Award.

“Notwithstanding that 2021 proved to be a challenging year globally, the Exchange demonstrated great resilience and performed well throughout the year. Our retail participation grew to 35.2 percent in 2021, marking another record high from the previous record high of 34.3 percent achieved in 2020,” said Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift, CEO of Bursa Malaysia. “The increase in retail participation in 2021 is undoubtedly the result of the partnership and seamless co-operation between the Exchange and Participating Organisations.

The Exchange will continue to work with broker partners and market intermediaries to enhance its effort to improve the marketplace and drive higher retail participation through targeted initiatives. This is in support of one of its key development goals in the capital market, which is to improve financial literacy among retail investors and promote informed investment.
