Hong Seng Signs Agreement With NADMA For Foreign Worker Recruitment And Quarantine Management

Hong SengBerhad has announced that eMedAsia Sdn Bhd a 52% owned subsidiary of HS Bio Sdn Bhd has entered into an agreement with the National Disaster Management Agency (“NADMA”)’s for foreign workers recruitment and quarantine management.

The agreement includes Hotel proprietors Dato’ Shahrul Nasrun Chairman of Cahaya Pengurusan Cekap Sdn Bhd and Dato’ Mohamad Fardzli Idrus, Director of Faz Group Sdn Bhd.

Through the involvement, eMedAsia will provide end-to-end Covid-19 screenings for foreign workers upon their entry into the country from the pre-screening stage involving data management and integration with government’s eCOVID system, screening stage involving identification and verification of individual to the Covid tests screenings with qualified swabbers, managing the Covid neutralising antibody tests when required, biosamples logistics and ethical waste management to post-screening stage involving isolation management of positive cases as well as any other related services.

The panel of hotels which participated in the programme will serve as the foreign workers’ quarantine centres to provide quarantine accommodation and meals, access to healthcare facilities and government health authorities, ensuring the security of the premises and providing support services such as disposal of waste and housekeeping.

Hong Seng Executive Director Christopher Chan said: “ eMedAsia will also be working closely with its partners Koperasi Persatuan Perubatan Malaysia (KOOP MMA) which has access to almost 3,000 clinics and 14,000 doctors to ensure that the process of testing, quarantine, vaccination and so on will be completed smoothly.”

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr. Abd Latiff Ahmad added: “It is our hope that with today’s agenda we can prove the government’s commitment in enabling the return of supply of foreign workers in sectors that are facing shortages while adhering to international standards of managing foreign labour”.

With the Malaysian Government aiming to resume the bringing in and entry of foreign workers into Malaysia, to boost the various sectors requiring foreign workers and therefore reviving the economy, NADMA has initiated the Programme to manage and improve controls especially relating to Covid-19 management and processes so as not to compromise the national security. NADMA as a government agency will be responsible for coordinating SOPs and regulations to be complied with by all the relevant parties.
