Bursa Excellence Awards 2021 Returns With 52 Award Winners Across 22 Categories

Bursa in its Ninth Annual Bursa Excellence Awards 2021 presented a total of 52 awards across 22 categories in the Securities, Derivatives, and Islamic markets.

Celebrating the achievements, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Chairman of Bursa Malaysia said, “Notwithstanding the challenges faced in 2021, the Malaysian stock market demonstrated great resilience throughout the year. We continued to witness active trading for securities on our stock exchange, at an Average Daily Trading Value (“ADV”) of 3.5 billion Ringgit. We recorded 30 IPOs in 2021 compared to only 19 in 2020, which raised a total of 2.75 billion Ringgit and contributed to 10.56 billion Ringgit to the overall market capitalisation of 1.79 trillion Ringgit.”

“Meanwhile, the derivatives market recorded an all-time high in trading volume last year, achieving a record high of 18.4 million contracts traded in 2021, surpassing the previous high of 18.2 million contracts registered in 2020. In the Islamic Capital Market, the Bursa Suq Al-Sila’s trading revenue increased by 6.7 percent to 14.0 million Ringgit in 2021 from
13.1 million Ringgit in 2020 as a result of the increase in the ADV by 13.2 percent to 37.3 billion Ringgit in 2021 from 32.9 billion Ringgit in 2020,” added Tan Sri Wahid.

The night saw Congratulations to all the winners of the Bursa Excellence Awards 2021,” concluded Tan Sri Wahid. “Bursa Malaysia will continue working closely with our brokers and market intermediaries to drive more participation to the Exchange through targeted educational and marketing initiatives, and to spur further growth in the capital market.”

Among the winners for:
2021 Best Overall Equities Champion went to Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad and 1st Runner Up Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad. The Best Retail Equities Participating Organisation Investment Bank the Champion waw won by Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad while 1 st Runner Up went to RHB Investment Bank Berhad.

Best Retail Equities Participating Organisation – Non-Investment Bank the Champion was Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd and 1st Runner Up CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd. 2021 Best Institutional Equities Participating Organisation – Investment Bank Champion Maybank Investment Bank Berhad 1st Runner Up Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad 2021 Best Institutional Equities Participating Organisation – Non-Investment Bank Champion CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd 1st Runner Up UOB Kay Hian Securities (M) Sdn Bhd 2021 Best Institutional Foreign Equities Participating Organisation Champion JPMorgan Securities (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd 1 st Runner Up UBS Securities Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
