UTAR And DMS Beauty Solutions PLT Sign MoU For Research Collaboration

DMS Beauty Solutions PLT and UTAR signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to conduct a research on “Effectiveness and Limitation of Weight Management Products” on April 5 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. With the signing of this MoA, DMS Beauty Solutions PLT and UTAR will officially begin their strategic partnership to initiate research and develop information for the formulation, effectiveness, and limitation of weight management products with the combination of Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) and Health Supplements (HS), and knowledge expertise from the academic and industry.

Signing the agreement were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and DMS Beauty Solutions PLT General Manager Dr Kenneth Chew Yee Choy. The signing was witnessed by the Institute of Postgraduate Studies & Research Director Assoc Prof Dr Yong Thian Khok and DMS Beauty Solutions PLT Director Brian Lam Wai Hoe.

In his speech, Prof Ewe said, “This is a good opportunity for both parties to come together to share knowledge and expertise for a win-win partnership in research projects. UTAR believes in academia and industry collaboration as university researchers can assist industrial scientists in identifying current research that may be useful in the design and development of potential products and improving the industry’s ability to compete globally.”

Prof Ewe also mentioned that UTAR Hospital T&CM Centre had started its operation just last week. He said, “I hope in the future, we can consider doing clinical practices at UTAR Hospital. I am happy to explore other possibilities with DMS Beauty Solutions PLT.” Dr Kenneth Chew said, “The signing of the agreement is a momentous beginning as it marks a significant milestone for DMS. This is also because our vision to establish an Innovation Excellence Centre (IEC) is becoming a reality. With IEC, our research is no longer limited to desktop research; we will be able to initiate physical laboratory research through this collaboration work to research and develop more innovative consumer health products. We hope through this collaboration we will be able to create a significant impact for the health supplement industry.”
