Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has announced that there will be no payment required for tolls along PLUS and East Coast expressway for the coming Hari Raya balik Kampung.
With an estimated 4 million Malaysians hitting the roads daily for the Raya exodus, the free toll will be much anticipated and welcomed by many road users.
The dates for effective free toll are April 30, May 1, May 7, and May 8 while 30-50% discount on all classes of vehicles for highways other than PLUS and LPT.
This is the first time such a proposition has been given out by the Federal Government, although the users of the highway will be enjoying free toll, taxpayers’ money will be used to compensate toll concessionaires anyway.
