Health Ministry: Wearing Of Masks for Outdoors Optional From May 1

The government has revised the rules of wearing mask which is no longer required when outdoors but are optional for those outdoors but it is still mandatory for those indoors and in public transport or taking e-hailing rides, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin,
In a press conference, he said that those who are unwell were advised to wear the masks regardless of whether there were outdoors or indoors. “Those who are indoors doing exercises, dining, performing, and speaking need not wear the face mask,” he said
On Mysejahtera check-in, he said that it was no longer required adding that check-in to the premise is now automatically permitted except with those with high-risk status.
Khairy said this in a press conference where was already expected to make several announcements on the relaxation of SOPs as the country was transitioning to the endemic stage.
On Covid 19 testing, he said those who were tested positive were required to be quarantined for seven days, however under test and release they will have an option to undergo a supervised RTK-Ag test on the 4th day and if tested negative, they may be released from quarantine.
Khairy also made several announcements in respect of relaxation of SOP in respect of travel adding that fully vaccinated travellers and children are exempted from pre-departure and on-arrival tests.
He said that partially or not vaccinated travellers must take an RT-PCR test 2 days before departure and a supervised RTK_Ag test within 24 hours of arrival. They will have also be quarantined for 5 days. Khairy also said that Covid 19 insurance is no longer required for travellers entering Malaysia. All this take effect from May 1, 2022
