Expansion Of Retail Digitalization Initiative And Malaysian Sales Program Revives Sabah’s Retail Sector

Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs today completed the Launching Ceremony of two major programs of the Ministry, namely the Retail Digitalization Initiative (ReDI) at the Sabah State Level and the Malaysian Sales Program (PJM) – “Lively Kaamatan Party ”.

The launch of ReDI and PJM Kaamatan is part of the implementation of business sector expansion initiatives which are the main thrust of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP). The ReDI program has been successfully implemented in Putrajaya, Hulu Terengganu, Kapit Sarawak, Pulau Pangkor, Labuan with 3,512 merchants have switched to digital medium and now it is being expanded in Sandakan by targeting Sejati Walk as the first Cashless Mall in Sabah. For information, 1,925 users have received vouchers from e-Wallet provider companies at four locations for the launch of this ReDi initiative.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Celebration Segment PJM is now expanded after the implementation of the Chinese New Year PJM in Kuala Lumpur, “Rancak Aidilfitri” in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, “Rancak Hari Gawai” in Kapit, Sarawak and today “Rancak Pesta Kaamatan” in Sandakan, Sabah which is a continuation of this festive segment in ensuring people can spend with cheap sales throughout the year in a safe environment.

In addition, to support the implementation of ReDI and PJM implemented in collaboration with the Sabah State Government and the Sandakan Corporation Council (MPS), the Ministry agreed to channel an allocation of RM38,500 to implement a new incentive program for traders and consumers without cash in Sandakan.

Meanwhile, the private sector through ShopeePay and 99SpeedMart was also pleased to donate 350 units of safety kits and 700 food boxes totaling RM53,000 to traders at Sejati Walk and the target groups involved around Sandakan.
