Owners Agree To Extend Deadline On Digi Celcom Merger

Both Axiata parent company of Celcom and Digi have agreed to extend the merger deadline for the two telcos to December 2020 from 31 June.

Announcing to Bursa, Axiata via Maybank Investment Bank Berhad said both parties have agreed to extend the date by which the conditions set out in the SPA from 21 June 2022 to 31 December 2022

Digi is represented by CIMB Investment Bank and has also agreed to the deadline extension.

The merger once completed will form the largest telco in the country and has raised concern from regulator Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission on monopoly. However, the operators have answered queries on these concerns and allayed those fears.
