Dato’ Haji Kamarudin Ismail Re-Elected As Board Member Of International Cooperative Alliance

Member of the Board of Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA), Dato’ Haji Kamarudin Ismail was elected today as a Member of the Board of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) for the term 2022-2026 through voting at the General Assembly of International Cooperative Alliance, ICA Elective General Assembly 2022 at the Hotel Silken Al-Andalus, Seville, Spain.

Dato ’Haji Kamarudin Ismail defended his position as an ICA Board Member representing Malaysia in the election in this general assembly. A total of 15 board members from 21 candidates were selected to serve for a period of four years for the term 2022 to 2026. Dr. Ariel Guarco of Argentina has been re-elected as the new ICA President.

Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, YB Tan Sri Noh Bin Haji Omar said the re-election of Dato ‘Haji Kamarudin Ismail as a Board Member at the global level was an honor and recognition for the national cooperative movement. “This success shows that Malaysia has succeeded in producing cooperative figures at the international level and with the presence of Malaysians in the leadership of the ICA, I see the existence of a bridge that can connect cooperatives in Malaysia and cooperatives abroad.”

“My hope is that the cooperative should not be tied to business revolving only in the country but should also expand its activities and be involved in international trade as well as contributing to import and export activities. What is important is that this election will help enhance the bilateral business relationship between the cooperative movement in Malaysia and cooperatives abroad.”

Earlier, YB Tan Sri Noh Bin Haji Omar also attended the “Cooperatives: The Moment Is Now!” which opened the curtain of its organization on 19 June.

ANGKASA President, Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah said, ANGKASA has been a permanent member of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) since 1972 and has always played an active role at the global level to ensure that the national cooperative movement has a ‘name’ abroad to facilitate cooperation between cooperatives to explore new sectors and enhance business networks to place cooperative products and services in the open market.
