Maybank Adds Two New Routes Of Mobile Bus Banking Services In Pahang

Maybank has expanded its mobile bus banking services to include two new routes in rural Pahang, namely Lepar Hilir and Kuala Pahang, bringing the total number of routes to 10 effective July 4.

Maybank Malaysia Head of Community Financial Services Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan in a statement today, said the expansion of the service was in line with the group’s efforts to further increase financial inclusion for customers in rural areas.

He said the service offered customers easier convenience and access, thus helping to reduce travel time to conduct banking business.

“We are always looking for ways to improve service offerings as well as help address the challenges faced by our customers in remote areas such as Maran, Gambang, Pekan, Kuantan, Ulu Lepar, and Kuala Pahang,” he said.

According to Hamirullah, the route previously received growing support from the community by recording an average growth of 20 percent in terms of the number of customers served over the past three years.

Through the addition of two new routes, we expect to serve at least over 15 percent of customers each year, and will see the possibility of expanding these services to more areas, if feasible,” he added.

The ten routes cover a distance of about 500 kilometers with each location now offering service every two weeks.

Maybank’s mobile bus service, introduced in 1978, has provided basic banking services to communities living in remote and underserved areas, as well as having limited or no access to banking services.

According to Maybank, the two new routes are also part of the bank’s continued support of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Citizens Protection and Economic Recovery Program (PEMULIH) initiative to expand financial inclusion with the objective of providing better financial services to communities with minimal financial services.
