Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson will retire as Conservative leader on Thursday, according to the BBC, after a rolling wave of government resignations spurred by his handling of the party’s newest sex-and-bullying scandal surpassed 50.
The action would result in his resignation as prime minister after the party selects a successor through a leadership election, which is expected to take place in autumn.
Officials in Downing Street said Mr. Johnson would address the nation later on Thursday.
