In giving inspiration and exposure on Malaysian culture and traditional values, Oldtown Kopitiam chain of halal restaurants and Global Art centre have established a strategic cooperation in exhibiting works of art at all the former’s outlets in the country.
The collaboration, dubbed the ‘Art of Oldtown’ is made possible with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by OldTown Kopitiam CEO, Dawn Liew, and Global Art founder and CEO, Mahair Goh, today.
It was witnessed by Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) Chairman, Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan.
Liew said the collaboration with Global Art was one of the initiatives undertaken to refresh the Oldtown Kopitiam brand name and to vary its marketing strategy so as to remain relevant in the market.
She said Global Art’s works were also in tune with OldTown Kopitiam’s new objectives in its rebranding mission, that is, incorporating local values in the interior design concept of its chain of restaurants.
“The idea for the collaboration came as a result of OldTown’s brand refreshment, (which involves) the entire logo and interior design concept.
“When we look at the DNA of the brand, we want to be connected to the communities we serve and thought the best way to communicate and differentiate the brand is to have a mural or some form of art that represents (the specific) area where an outlet is situated,” said Liew at a press conference after the session at its outlet in Sri Rampai, here.
Radzali, meanwhile, stated MFA’s full support for OldTown Kopitiam and Global Art, which are also MFA members, in attracting more customers and increasing awareness of both brands.
“Such efforts and cooperation should be fostered in supporting the growth of the country’s franchise industry.
“Our (MFA) members are our assets and we need to look at ways to support and bridge them to the (relevant) agencies and public. As such, this (collaboration) is a milestone that we’re proud of. We highly encourage other members of the MFA to initiate co-partnership in programmes like this,” he added.
